"He shoots, he scores!" The NHL playoffs is just around the corner. If you live in Northern Virginia, the spot to watch hockey is Bugsy's Sports Bar in Old Town, Alexandria. Bryan Watson, a former NHL defenseman for 17 years, is the owner of this fine bar. Hall of Famers Gordie Howe and Andy Bathgate dubbed him Bugsy because he was a pest. There are cool hockey memorabilia inside: Game-worn jerseys of Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Mark Messier, Bobby Orr and Joe Sakic. You'll see hockey sticks and pucks. There's also a photo of Watson sporting a black eye as you enter the sports bar. As for the food, the deep dish pizza is pretty good. The nachos and wings are also a favorite of Whale. The restaurant has two levels: Upstairs is where the sports bar is located. Downstairs is for those who want a casual dining experience. Nowadays, Watson is a super host and no longer a super pest. You'll likely see him running around the restaurant and bar.

In Between Bites

In between bites you watch the Capitals game. Or the Penguins game. Or the Maple Leafs game.

Who is the NHL’s MVP this season?
When the season concludes in the first week of April, Caps winger Alex Ovechkin will likely lead the league in goals scored and points. Some argue that he shouldn’t win the Hart Trophy if the Caps don’t make the playoffs. Without Ovechkin, the Caps wouldn’t be in the playoff chase. Not only is he an offensive dynamo, Ovechkin is a ferocious hitter as well as a good defensive player. The Great 8 is the complete package. Other players who should receive MVP votes: Penguins center Evgeni Malkin; Flames winger Jarome Iginla; Sharks netminder Evgeni Nabokov and Red Wings center Pavel Datsyuk.
