Why Can't Boston Be As Cool As Everywhere Else?

Pinkberry is also said to be overrated. But I don’t care, I still want it here. I mean, when you see it on The Hills and other “posh” shows all the time, how can you not want to try it. It’s hard to picture a Pinkberry in Boston because, like I said, Boston isn’t very into trendy shops and restaurants, but I know Pinkberry would do fabulous business were it here.

Sure, we have other similar yogurt shops like Berryline (which is fabulous!) and Yo Berry, but we want the trendy LA chain that all the celebs go to. We want to feel like one of them. Is that too much to ask?

Who doesn’t love cereal?? WHY does Boston not have any cereal restaurants? Cereal restaurants might legit be the best idea I’ve ever heard of. But since we don’t have any, it’s awfully hard for me to go to them. Sometimes I get huge cravings for a bowl of Lucky Charms, but don’t necessarily want to buy a whole box. Cereality would be the perfect solution. Not to mention, you can get any cereal combinations that you want as well.

The cereal is served in cute little take-out bowls with a sloop. A soup spoon that is also a spoon, so you can drink your milk when you’re done with your cereal. They also make cereal bars and smoothes made from cereal. I want to try a smoothie made with cereal! But again, I cannot.

There are a few Cereality shops throughout the country, but none that are even remotely close to Boston. Why not? Bring Bostonians cereal! Yes, we will pay $3.99 for a bowl of cereal, I promise.

How could I not want to go to Sonic? Their commercials are on ALL the time. And they are constantly showing their delicious food and drinks. They have things like slushies and mint chocolate chip milkshakes. And their burgers look amazing. OK, so let’s get in the car and go to the nearest Sonic!

Oh. Well that might be kind of difficult considering the nearest Sonic is 240 miles away! Yes, 240 miles. Why on Earth is Sonic spending so much money on advertising here if we can’t even get it without taking time off from work? Well, I do know one thing. If I’m ever traveling and I happen to drive by a sonic, I sure as heck WILL be stopping at it. And I bet a lot of other Bostonians feel the same way I do.

Anyway, Sonic’s commercials are quite funny and enjoyable, so I don’t mind them on my TV so much. And I will continue to dream of the day when I can taste Sonic myself. Bring Sonic to Boston!

If Peanut Butter & Co came to Boston I would probably be the largest person ever. But I would love every minute of it. This little restaurant is basically my dream come true, considering what a huge peanut butter fan I am. And out of all the peanut butter brands in the world, this one is my favorite. Because they have amazing flavors like cinnamon raisin, dark chocolate, and maple.

Lucky for me, they sell some of the peanut butters in the Boston area, in places like Whole Foods and the Christmas Tree Shops (at amazing prices!), but I still want the whole restaurant to be here. I want to try all of their sandwiches and desserts. If Peanut Butter & Co was in Boston, I would not only eat there every day, I would probably bring my laptop, set up shop, and never ever leave. What would the point be in leaving?

Sure, I love Starbucks. But Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf just seems to much trendier and cooler. This is where you always see the celebs going to get their daily fix. If you have a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf cup in your hand, you ARE someone. I want to be someone. And I wish we had Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf here in Boston.

Don’t get me wrong, I feel extremely lucky that we have our Dunkin Donuts here in Boston (thank the Lord). And I’m also happy that we finally got the West Coast’s Peet’s, which I love so dearly. So when will Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf be here? Soon, I hope. I want to put on my leggings and walk out of Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf pretending to be Lindsay Lohan.

Rice pudding? I know, right? Where did that come from? Well, apparently it’s the newest trend in desserts, and Rags to Riches made sure that they were the first on the food trend train.

This restaurant serves rice pudding and only rice pudding. And you should see all the flavors they offer! I, for one, would never be able to decide. French Toast? Cinnamon Raisin? Rocky Road? Egg Nog? The list goes on and on and on. But don’t worry because Rice to Riches lets you sample as many flavors as you like before you decide.

Rice to Riches is clearly far too trendy for Boston. But why can’t Boston step it up a little and get a bit more trendy? Rice to Riches would be the perfec addition to our city. Then when rice pudding totally blows up, we can say we were the first…after New York City of course.

I know this is a highly debated subject and I’m more than willing to jump into the debate. I tend to be someone who disagrees with the masses and hates when people go crazy over a product or restaurant. Usually when the masses are obsessed, it’s not so great. But when it comes to Magnolia Cupcakes, they are right!! These cupcakes are amazing!

Boston is seriously lacking in cupcakes and Magnolia is exactly what we need. There’s definitely the market for them (everyone loves cupcakes) and we could use a little variety here so we’re not stuck going to the same couple places over and over.

Magnolia’s cupcakes are the perfect amount of sweetness (A LOT but no sickenly so) and the buttercream frosting is so deliciously smooth, I could probably eat an entire dozen of them. And just ask the ladies of Sex and the City or the guys of SNL…you know they’ll agree with me!

Oh how I love me some Jamba Juice. There is allegedly a Jamba Juice in the basement of some BU building, but that doesn’t count to me. Bring Jamba Juice to Boston, as in Downtown Boston or at least somewhere readily accessible to the average Bostonian.

Jamba Juice is out of California, but there are Jamba Juices all over the country, in 30 states. I’ve been to several in NYC and love my juice and/or smoothie every time I go. Allegedly, there are also Jamba Juices in some Whole Food stores, so why aren’t they in the 3 million Whole Food stores located in the Boston area? Jamba Juice people? Please don’t say, “Oh that Jamba Juice at BU isn’t doing so hot, so we’re not bringing any more Jamba Juices to Boston!” Bring Jamba Juice Downtown and I am pretty convinced it will do just fine.

I came across this little gem, Forever XXI when I was wandering Michigan Ave. in Chicago. You don’t even want to know how long I spent in here. At first I was confused. Forever XXI? As in related to Forever 21 YES. Only 10 times bigger and better.

Forever XXI is bigger than most department stores, not to mention much huger than than any other Forever 21 store you’ve ever seen. To be honest, it was a bit overwhelming. But overwhelming in a completely amazing way. I bought far too much, but I could have bought so much more.

If Forever XXI was in Boston, I’d likely be in here every day, until I had to buy a few more closets to hold all my fabulous clothing. Or maybe I could do a floor a day. Or I’d have to make myself a Forever XXI budget. This would be serious trouble for me, but you have no idea how much I want it!

The main reason Dylan’s Candy Bar is so cool is because it was started and is owned by Ralph Lauren’s daughter, Dylan. But it’s also pretty cool because it’s a candy store and how can a candy store not be cool? The stores are adorable inside and sell all the candy you could ever dream of. They also have ice cream bars and are basically cute little candy shops you could hang out in all day long.

Dylan’s Candy Bar was started in New York City, but now it’s beginning to expand all over. But of course, it’s not in Boston yet, and will probably never be. We just don’t like the trends here in Boston.
