What's the worst thing about the economy sucking? Well, the fact that many of us can't afford to go out to dinner anymore. What's the best thing about the economy sucking? Recession specials, of course! Better than just sitting around crying, right? Tons of restaurants in Boston are now offering really amazing deals on their menus. Hello, Sir. Why do you look so glum? Don’t you know the recession has a positive side?? Come to Boston! Check out all these amazing recession restaurant specials. How can you not be happy after filling your stomach with this deliciousness?!

33 Restaurant & Lounge

33 Stanhope St, Boston, MA 02116

33 Restaurant & Lounge is offering a 3-course dinner for only $33. That’s a really good deal..$11 for course if you want to break it down (no prob, I don’t mind doing the math for you). Plus, if you go to their website, you can get a coupon for another $10 off, which means you pay $22, which means you pay like $7.33 per course. Amazing!

33 is a really chic little restaurant that will make you feel like part of the Boston scene. I once ordered a simple vodka soda and it cost $14, so you know this recession deal really is a fabulous one.

B & G Oysters Ltd

550 Tremont St, Boston, MA 02116

For some reason, oyster deals are huge during this recession. But I guess it makes sense for a place with a name like B&G Oysters, right? On Sunday evenings, the restaurant has all kinds of oyster small plate deals for $3-$12, and on Monday nights they offer lobster small plates for $6-$12. Lobster for that cheap? Um, yes please.

B&G is owned by Boston famed Barbara Lynch so you know it’s good. Like amazingly good. If you enjoy Oysters, you really need to check this place out.

Twenty Eight Degrees

1 Appleton St, Boston, MA 02116

Another oyster deal! 28 Degrees deal is every night from 5-7 p.m. (excellent after work idea!) and oysters are only $10 at this time. Think about how many oysters you could eat for the price of a meal!

28 Degrees is a fabulous restaurant and also a hot spot for the gay men to hang out. I once walked by on a Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. and there was a huge dance party going on. Sunday afternoon! This makes me believe 28 Degrees is fun ALL the time!

Bella Luna is offering $5 appetizers every night, which is pretty fabulous. You could gather a few of your friends together and head to Bella Luna for a bunch of appetizers and drinks. Appetizers are my favorite part of a meal!

Bella Luna’s food is amazing. I know this because I was invited to try it when they had their grand re-opening with their new chef. And try it I did. It was all awesome. So I don’t think you will be disappointed by their fabulous array of $5 appetizers.

Widget_cymmzdifzoxp5pxvk1dwn8

Now THAT is a deal. Think about how much money you could save if you ate this every day. And then think about your medical bills. Right.

And what’s so good about the pineapple juice??

The Milky Way Lounge

403-405 Centre St. Jamaica Plain, MA 02130

The Milky Way Lounge is right next door to Bella Luna so if you’re not in the mood to take advantage of $5 appetizers, you can come by here. OR maybe even take advantage of both! On Monday nights, you can pay $7 at Milky Way and take part in the all-you-can-eat pizza buffet. And then you can bowl for free. Win!

Widget_bruravh09ma6qdq22ptntf

Wow, don’t these people look thrilled to be at the Milky Way?? That’s probably because they’re taking part in the recession special and maybe even bowling for free too. What on Earth could be better??

Grafton Street

1230 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA 02138

Grafton Street’s recession special means that nothing on the bar menu is over $12. I suppose this could mean that everything on the bar menu is $12 or $11 or something. But they have some really good stuff on their bar menu, especially the calimari and homemade potato chips.

Widget_dnoun9yprmbogj56lsck19

Grafton Street is a great spot to grab a meal, inside or out. But if you’re just looking for some drinks, you should definitely hang out at Grafton’s bar. They have special peanut rum and when mixed with whiskey, it’s one of my favorite drinks ever!

Metropolitan Club the

1210 Boylston, Brookline, MA 02445

The Metropolitan Club is one of my favorite restaurants in all the Boston area. So, I definitely want to take advantage of their recession special. Monday night is burger night, which means you can choose between 3 different burgers for only $4.99 each. This is a super nice restaurant with a great vibe to it, and for $4.99, you can also afford a pretty nice bottle of wine to go along with your burgers!

Widget_azfzokmqdec52axbwiiupz

Oh hi, Metropolitan Club burgers. This is just one example. And though it’s probably not one of the $4.99 burgers, it’s still extremely mouth-watering, right? I love everything about The Met, but if I’m there for lunch (and they’re not currently serving “brunch;” they’re eggs benedict is amazing!), I am sure to get one of their burgers. And you can’t forget their special parmesan truffle fries. SO fabulous.

Widget_cb17pr3khjvk_uwyi4ym5a

Well hey little kitteh. You can stop shoveling now. The Met will give you a cheezburger for only $4.99!! Can’t beat that!

Lineage Restaurant

242 Harvard St, Brookline, MA 02446

Oh hi, it’s another oyster deal. At Lineage you can sit at the bar and eat $1 oysters every night from 5-7. How many oysters do you think you can eat in 2 hours?? Gather some friends and start a competition. Or maybe not…Lineage is kind of a classy place.

Lineage is a somewhat new restaurant located in Brookline’s Coolidge Corner. They have a really eclectic and delicious sounding menu and even have an award-winning butterscotch pudding, which I really want to try. NEED to try.

Tremont 647

647 Tremont St, Boston, MA 02118

Tremont 647 allegedly has really fabulous tacos. I’ve never tried them, but I might have to now that they’re having $2 taco Tuesdays. I kind of have a feeling I could eat a lot of tacos when they’re costing me only $2. If tacos aren’t quite your thing, you might want to attend their 3-course vegan dinners on Sunday nights. The entire dinner will only cost you $22.50!

Tremont 647 is a really cute little spot in the South End. If it’s nice weather (which right now it is not), you should try to sit outside. Excellent people watching! Actually, let’s hope these recession specials aren’t still going on come spring. It would be just glorious if the recession was over by then.

Do you like tapas? If so, you will love Tapeo!! They have some of the best tapas in Boston and their recession special is offering $5 tapas at the bar. This is a fabulous deal and means you can get a whole bunch of them for a really decent price. Better yet, bring your friends and you can try a little bit of everything.

I don’t know exactly what tapas Tapeo is offering for $5, but I do know that they have a delicious quail and really good frog legs. Tapas bars are the perfect places to try dishes you’re not familiar with and might not normally try. And with the recession special, if you don’t love it, it was only $5!

Aujourd'hui

200 Boylston St, Boston, MA 02116

Aujourd’hui is one of the nicest most romantic restaurants in all of Boston. I’ve never been there. Because, well because, it’s extremely expensive and I cannot afford it. So when I heard they were having a recession special I got pretty excited. The special is $55 for a 3-course Sunday dinner. Now $55 may not seem cheap to you, but when you look at Aujourd’hui’s prices, you will see that this deal is actually quite nice. Maybe you can actually try Aujourd’hui now and not break your bank?

Oooh look how pretty it is at Aujourd’hui. I would LOVE to go and have a nice Sunday dinner here. My parents love this place but even they would only go on very very special occasions. Now, the recession is making things more affordable!

Widget_ahv94syq1ic4oc4u-vbu9_

Thank goodness these restaurants aren’t closing. They’re just offering fabulous deals. So go feed your tummy and help your favorite restaurants out a bit!

Masa

439 Tremont St, Boston, MA 02116

Masa is another one of my favorite Boston-area restaurants. And now I’m super excited to go back and take advantage of their recession special, which is offering 50 cent tapas on Mon-Fri from 5-7. 50 cents!! Can you get anything for cents these days? ALSO, Masa is having Sunday brunch for just $7.95. I’ve heard their brunches are amazing so I’m super excited to try this out.

OH and one more thing. Pitchers of sangria are $5 every night in the bar. OK, so can I just move into Masa or something? Because that’s pretty much my plan right now!

I didn’t realize it was possible for me to love Masa any more than I already do. But just reading about their recession specials makes me want to marry it. Or make it my new home at least. Their food is seriously amazing and their drink menu extensive and fabulous. There’s really nothing I don’t like about this place.

La Verdad

7 Lansdowne St, Boston, MA 02215

Another graet taco recession deal! What could be better? Le Verdad is offering $1 tacos on Tuesdays. I’m not really sure what it is about Tacos on Tuesdays, but the restaurants seem to love it. Too bad it’s on the same day as Tremont 647’s taco deal though, or you could feast on $1 tacos a couple days a week! Oh well, I’m sure the recession will last more than enough weeks for you to get your fill of $2 tacos.

I’ve actually never been to La Verdad, but I’ve heard it was awarded by Bon Appetit magazine as having the best tacos in the country. I don’t know how much I believe this and I really need to get over there to check that out. Tuesday sounds like the perfect time…we will see if this is “la verdad.” Ha!

I’m a big fan of Red Sky’s recession deal: daily half price appetizers. I LOVE half price appetizer deals for some reason; they’re just SO good. Unfortunately they only go from 4-6, so if you have to work until 5 and can’t get there until 5:30, you might not get to take too much advantage. Since I work from home, there’s always a chance I can sneak out for a little bit if I so decide.

Also, they offer a soup, sandwich, and salad for $6, which sounds like another amazing deal.

Red Sky is located right on the outskirts of Faneuil Hall, which makes it I think OK to go to. Seriously, I am not a big Fan of Faneuil Hall (ha! Get it?), but I don’t think the people who are the reasons I dislike Faneuil Hall hang out at Red Sky at all, so I think I would hang out here. Especially if they gave me half price appetizers. Oh yes.

Lespalier

30 Gloucester St, Boston, MA 02115

Another restaurant there’s no way I could afford. L’Espalier is a super romantic and glamorous spot. I’m kind of excited about their recession specials, mainly because they’re offering a 3-course lunch for only $24. I cannot even believe it!

Or you can can have a wine dinner on Monday, which includes 4 courses with wine for only $60. A really good deal considering you won’t be spending extra money on wine.

And my favorite? Cheese Tuesdays! It’s four “cheesy courses” with wine for only $68. Um, cheese, wine, and a good price? I really must do this!

Even the door at L’Espalier makes it look like a place you could in no way afford. But with their recession specials, you really might be able to! Just don’t get too spoiled, because the recession specials will eventually end (hopefully).

Boston's Recession Specials!

Who knows how much time you have left! Better hit up all these spots. Although, come to think of it, if you go to every restaurant, you might really be bankrupted. These restaurant people might be smarter than I think…
