It's Here! Get in the Holiday Spirit a Bit Early in Boston

The holidays aren't quite here yet, but trust me, there are plenty of things going on in Boston that will put you in the holiday mood. Yes, I know Thanksgiving isn't even here yet, but that doesn't mean you can't be thinking about Santa and what he's going to bring you. This year seems especially insane with the holiday spirit arriving in Boston way earlier than it usually does. So go out and be merry. By the time December 25 hits, you're going to be sick and tired of everything red and green and anything resembling an elf. Enjoy it while you can!
Red Cups at Starbucks!
When the red cups are back at Starbucks, you know the holidays are near.
There are about a billion Starbucks locations in Boston, but this is one of my favorites. I’m so excited to see the red cups are back as well as all the holiday special drinks. Gingerbread latte anyone?

Macy's Starts Playing Christmas Music
I was in this Macy’s weeks ago and Christmas music was playing. This was literally the first sign that the holidays are near (sort of) for me. Yes, it’s way too early to start playing holiday music, but I’m pretty sure it’s helping everyone get in the holiday mood (and do more shopping!).

ZooLights at Stone Zoo
Look at how pretty the annual ZooLights are at the Stone Zoo?
ZooLights comes to the Stone Zoo on November 22, so get ready! What’s ZooLights? It’s an event at the Stone Zoo featuring thousands of lights, Santa Clause and his caste, and tons of fun wintry animals. Wintry animals, you say? Why yes. Animals like reindeer, grey fox, porcupines, and a lynx. Yay!
Their website also said something about dancing plush animals and if dancing plush animals doesn’t get you in the holiday spirit, I’m not quite sure what will.
ZooLights is at the Stone Zoo until December 30, so go and get in the mood!

The Nutcracker is Back
Who hasn’t seen the Nutcracker? Um, if you haven’t, you really need to. Trust me, NOTHING will get you in the holiday spirit more than this!
You know the Nutcracker is in town when you see hundreds of little girls milling around outside the Opera House in their holiday dresses.
The Nutcracker used to be at the Wang Center every year, but now it’s at the Opera House, which is also quite nice. You might want to get your tickets as soon as possible though, before the little girls buy them all out!

The rat scene is most definitely my favorite part of The Nutcracker!
Instead of being in icky, muddy giant puddle of water, the frog pond is frozen over and becomes a romantic, holiday-ish ice rink. Couples go and hold hands as they skate around and pretend they live in NYC. Not quite, but it’s all we got here in Boston and it’s kind of cute if you like that sort of thing.

Holiday Movies are Out
Four Christmases is the big holiday movie of the year. Will you see it? I love me some Vince and some Reese.
Loews is my movie theatre of choice because it’s really one of the only quality movie theatres in the Boston area (love the independents, but they won’t be showing the cheesy holiday flicks).

You have to admit it looks kind of cute, right? In a totally cheesy, you might be wasting $10 by seeing this in the theatre kind of way. But at least it will put you in the mood a little bit.
The Grinch is in Boston!
Um, these kids look scared to death of the Grinch and can you really blame them? The thing is freaking scary. But he’s at the Wang Center, so go check him out!
The Wang Center is one of the most beautiful places to see a show in Boston. And now there’s even more reason to go. The Grinch is there! Sure he looks freaking scary, but I hear it’s a really fabulous show, so go see it and help the Grinch get you in the holiday mood. If he doesn’t, I’m sure Cindy Loo Who will help!

Get in the Holiday Spirit Early This Year!
Boston is already in full-blown holiday mode and Thanksgiving hasn’t even hit yet. You better take full advantage of this, so by the time Christmas hits, you’ll be ready for it to be over.
