Despite its early days as simply a micro-blogging platform, recent growth has helped to transform Twitter into an insanely popular communications tool, from which you can learn a lot more than what your old college buddy in South Carolina had for breakfast. Within larger cities especially, there's been a tremendous surge in businesses and services looking to connect with their audience and customer base in an entirely new way. In this guide I've assembled the top picks for those in the Seattle Metro area; be sure to check back often, because as the amount of Seattle users on Twitter grows, you can certainly expect that the contents of this guide will as well.

Monica Guzman was the first online writer for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, which switched over to an online-only format in 2008. She’s obviously a news and culture junkie, and combines this love with her passion for staying connected to her readers. As far as I’m concerned, she’s like a gateway drug to the Seattle social media scene.
