Who said macaroni and cheese is just for kids? I may have outgrown the blue box, but that doesn't mean I don't crave the cheesiness from time to time. Instead of ooey and gooey I want baked and crunchy. If you're in Chicago, check out some of these places who claim to have the best mac & cheese in the city.

Art Smith really knows how to dish out the Southern comfort. His three-cheese macaroni and cheese is sure to make your taste buds happy. It’s listed as a side, but it’s easily a meal for me.

I’ve only been to Handlebar once and it was very crowded. It could have been because it was a Saturday night, but it was pretty difficult to hear people at my own table. The kitchen is open until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, plus they have free bike parking and a beer garden!

This location is a bit on the pricey side, but I’ve been told it’s worth it. Right now they’re offering a lobster macaroni and cheese and while I’m not a huge fan of seafood, I’m tempted to try this. (For you non-Chicagoans, Smith & Wollensky can be found in Boston, Washington, D.C., Vegas, Miami, Philly, Houston, Columbus and New York.

I wish I lived closer to this Irish Bar for two reasons: 1) Half-priced bottles of wine on Tuesdays and 2) Macaroni and cheese. I only got a side, which easily could have been a meal for me. I wish I had ordered the whole dish so I had leftovers to bring home. Their mac & cheese was probably the best I’ve ever had.

I’ve been to Stanley’s once, but I didn’t know about their mac & cheese until it was too late. I had already heard too much about their mashed potatoes and decided to go that route instead.
