Around January/February I start getting a little stir crazy knowing that my next trip won't be until spring break....if that. So, I spend an inordinate amount of time Googling vacation destinations. My problem: I ALWAYS WANT TO TRAVEL INTERNATIONALLY....BUT, traveling internationally means spending international COIN- which isn't cheap. SO- I'm working on planning my next trip in the United States, there's still some great cities to discover. Where should I go?? Where do YOU vacation in the U.S.??

Great cities I want to visit:

I NEED YOUR WORDS OF WISDOM

I’d really like to take a trip (SOLO) for a few days to one of these cities, but I can’t decide which one….any suggestions?? Any cities I haven’t though of maybe?

PORTLAND

I’ve always loved the idea of visiting Portland because when I tell people how much I love Seattle, they say, “HAVE YOU BEEN TO PORTLAND?! It’s even better.”

The whole grungy, hippie, coffee shop thing would really suit me well.

Oba Restaurant

555 Nw 12th Ave, Portland, OR 97209

I’d definitely want to hit up this joint. Roasted butternut squash ENCHILADAS? Heck yes, that sounds like a plate of food I’d down all by myself without a problem.

NASHVILLE

I have moments of “I am moving to Nashville to be a country singer” then I snap back to reality when I remember that sadly, I’m much too Democratic to handle the South. I think? Still haven’t been there….

AUSTIN

Another songbirds DREAM, Austin!! The word on the streets is that it feels nothing like being in Texas. Which, from visiting Texas- is a good thing. Sorry Texans. What music venues should a musician check out while they’re in Austin? How about the food???

Austin says these are the ten best....

BOSTON

Here’s yet another city that was almost home when I got accepted to go to Berklee School of Music for voice….I opted for Los Angeles instead. Is it really a mini New York?

Berklee College Of Music

1140 Boylston St, Boston, MA 02215

Where I'm going next:

SANIBEL ISLAND!

Spring break here I come!

Every year when that time comes when we pull out our bathing suits and pray to the sun God’s, I want to take full advantage of that beach time! Mexico is overrated, I’ve lived in California- so why not hop over ot Flordia this year?? Sanibel is a beautiful island that feels exotic but doesn’t COST the money you’d pay to visit Hawaii…..

Last Spring break:

SAN DIEGO

San Diego is the most beautiful laid back city- a far cry from what I was used to in Los Angeles. I could se myself devoting my life to surfing, drinking beer and bbqing on Pacific Beach.

With the ladi back energy of San Diego going to a restaurant that’s a little chi-chi is a nice change of pace. From flip flops to heels. Beach dresses still allowed.

I LOVE VISITING.........

SEATTLE

Actually, I almost moved here. For a boy. Silly choice, and glad that it didn’t work out truthfully….though I still have a pang of heartache when I think about the fact that I will NEVER, EVER live there.

Espresso Vivace Alley 24

227 Yale Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109

Since I LOVE New York City, I think I'm leaning towards a solo trip to CHICAGO:

CHICAGO

SIGH- Just the sight of all the buildings clustered together makes my heart go pitter pat.

PLUS, Oprah loves it and I love Oprah. Shocker.

Table Fifty-Two

52 W. Elm St. Chicago, IL 60610

Oprah’s personal chef has a restaurant of his own and though it may be pricey and reservations may be tough….I’m there. Whatever it takes. A fruit basket maybe?

You should move to Seattle! It is a beautiful place – though I know it doesn’t compare to NY…

Austin still has Texan flavor, the community is just more progressive and liberal. You can never take the Texas out of a Texan… even in pompous Dallas. If you visit, you’ll never leave. Also, how can Texas help but have such extremes; it is larger than most countries.
