Best Damn BBQ in Fort Lauderdale

South Florida may not technically qualify as "the south", but it offers up a delectable array of true southern BBQ. While people can (and do) argue for days about which "Q" is best, I humbly offer up my top picks if you're hungry for smoked and saucy meats while in town.
Small local joints… the best!
This perennial favorite of South Florida barbecue, in operation since 1953, offers pit smoked barbecue beef and pork along with daily specials. The atmosphere isn’t fancy and there isn’t much space, but the Q is second to none.

With all the charm of a roadside stand, which is basically what this seems to have grown out of, The Dixie Pig offers great chow and the best No. Carolina BBQ sauce I know. Mmmmmm.

This one, frequented by my wife and her office, has decades of history, and a slick corporate looking website. But don’t be fooled , it’s got donw-home style in person. My wife likes the baby back ribs and chicken which is grilled over wood and doused with a molasses and honey sauce developed from family recipes of the two owners.

Corporate joints… but still pretty good!
