Because You Like to Watch: Seattle Webcams
Thanks to the wonderful interconnected nature of society today, our inner voyeur can indulge itself in all sorts of informative (and sometimes awkward) webcams that the internet has made available for us to monitor the world with. Seattle is certainly no different in this respect, and is quite possibly a frontrunner in the offering of live picture and video feeds. Assembled here is a collection of some of the most useful and fun from around the emerald city and beyond.
Lake Washington Bald Eagle Cam
Located in a 100 foot tall Douglas fir tree a new day/night camera installed in 2009 provides streaming video. A must see!

SR 520 Traffic Cam
This one definitely serves more of a functional purpose than it does anything else. SR 520, or “the floating bridge” as it’s also known, is typically the worst part of anyone’s day who has to use it. Sneaking a peek on the traffic cam before you head out the door might just make all the difference between being late to work, or being SUPER late to work.

Space Needle Cam
Craving a 24-hour access view of the Space Needle? This is about as close as you’ll get aside from shelling out some insane coin for a downtown loft or house on Queen Anne. This one’s especially fun to pull up on your laptop at on New Year’s Eve to catch the fireworks.

Dale Ireland's Silverdale Cam
Located at Dale’s home in Silverdale, 20 miles west of Seattle. It is pointed west, looking across Hood Canal, an arm of Puget Sound, towards the Olympic Mountains. A good reminder of the serene, natural treasures that lie just outside our bustling city.

Woodland Park Zoo Bearcam
This cam shows the two grizzly bear brothers, Keema and Denali, at Woodland Park Zoo’s award-winning Northern Trail exhibit. As you might imagine, it’s a bit boring in the winter, but these two definitely know how to cause trouble during the summer.
Note: At the time of publishing (May 2009), this cam was down for maintenance, but is expected to be back up by mid to end of summer.

K5 Queen Anne Live Cam
One of the many live streaming cameras brought to us courtesy of King5 News, it sits atop the hill that so many a picturesque Seattle vista has been taken from. It’s also pretty damn to cool to check out when a heavy fog rolls in.

Admittedly, this isn’t really that close to Seattle. Nonetheless, you should bookmark it just in case she decides to blow her top again.
