Brunch your way through Boston...

Waiting in Line is for the birds...

I argue that with a bit of strategy and know-how, you’ll never be wasting time in line to get into these bruncherias.  The power of opentable.com and the resolve to beat the nooner crowd are great leaps to the front of the line.

Phillips Old Colony House Restaurant

780 William T Morrissey, Dorchester, MA 02122

I think this is the place to take Granny for brunch. All one level, unlimited refills, and I bet they’ll have Jell-o! I wanted a bit more for my $17.95, but I don’t eat pork so I was naturally out a few sausages….

The brunch itself is perhaps the most I’ve paid in Boston, but the buffet is so fresh and original, I’d say it’s worthy of treating yourself. Think: quesadillas, mango and radish salad, delicious chicken and beef concoctions, some shellfish-based items, Asian noodle dishes—all being refreshed readily by the chefs whose kitchen backs up to the buffet. The big pleaser was the dessert table. Don’t pass on the tequila lime cheesecake or the chocolate bread pudding if you can help it.

The buffet price does not include fresh squeezed juices which will set you back a few bucks…just to give you a heads-up.

Masa

439 Tremont St, Boston, MA 02116

Service is friendly, even warm, like the Southwestern decore. Cheers for the complimentary corn bread with various chutneys and spiced butter while you wait for your meal. Breakfast burrito is doughy, flavorful, fulfilling. Such a simple but delicious meal. Texas Toast gives you the sugar shakes but is very creative and yummy. The Eggs Benedict (smaller, but tasty), and the tacos tapas are fresh and scrumptious. Make your res on opentable.com and earn points!

Ula Cafe

If you don’t mind all the wifi nerds at neighboring tables, breakfast is delicious. Cinnamon rolls and hot tea…granola parfait…scones, etc. It’s all so fresh!
