Why being a twin can be pretty awesome.

Reason #1

  • Your twin can invite all the girls you like to your birthday parties:
  • When you are a teenager, this perk seems pretty awesome, kind of like having these girls to the right come to your birthday party.  It especially helps when your twin is more popular, aka less geeky, than you.  I invited all of the guys she liked too, so it seemed to work for us…
  • Mental note for the sister: getting all of your friends to come to the party is awesome, but make sure your girl friends can get along with all of the guy friends so no one gets kicked in the ding ding again.

Reason #2

  • You always have someone to help you with your homework:
  • Being good at math and science, the essence of a super nerd, I appreciated getting some help with english.
  • Fortunately, and unfortunately, I am left handed and my sister is right handed, so no copying there.
  • I helped her with the math, so we were ok.

Reason #3

  • You can quickly discover how stupid some people are:
  • When you tell someone you have a twin of the opposite sex, a surprising number of people immediately ask “identical or fraternal?”
  • If you are feeling nice, you can give them a second to realize their error.
  • If you are feeling ornery, you can go to Reason #4.

Reason #4

  • It can be fun to mess with people:
  • Like, when she cuts her finger I can feel it.
  • Or, OMG!  The other day, I like, started crying for no reason, and I couldn’t figure out why.  I figured I should call my sister, and her dog had just died.  That was so weird, but it happens, like omg, all the time.
  • Or, tell them she will be calling in about five minutes and set your cell phone to go off.  This also makes it where you can exit a bad conversation.

Reason #5

  • You can freak out your twin (and sometimes yourself) by guessing what she is talking about:
  • One day, a long time ago, my twin called my name from another room.
  • I could tell, just from the way she said it, that she was going to ask me to fill up her humidifier.
  • So, I filled it up without saying a word, and, she still doesn’t know how I knew what she was thinking.

Reason #6

  • It is always nice to shift the blame:
  • When you are a kid, it is pretty awesome when someone else can take the blame for you.
  • Make sure you apologize about it when you become adults.
  • When you get in trouble, it can become second nature to say, “it wasn’t me, it was my evil twin.”
  • Most people usually laugh (it only works on your parents once or twice) and it is much harder to get in trouble when people are laughing at you.

Reason #7

  • You have a great partner to team up on your parents with, especially when you want something:
  • Parents can get pretty tired chasing after twins.
  • Sometimes that can be exploited…
  • There is a point where parents get tired of hearing you ask for something.
  • That is the prime opportunity for your twin to start asking.

Reason #8

  • Though this picture is gross, you end up sharing a lot of stuff:
  • When you break a toy, you can share your twin’s toy.
  • When one of you breaks your parents, the other can share the benefits.
