Bar Hopping on the Huffy

South Bay locals may appear to be concerned with global warming or give the appearance they are financially affected by the current gas prices; however their intentions aren't that pure. On any given sunny, mid 70's day at the beach hundreds of bicyclists crowd the streets, boardwalks and allies, but more importantly, the front of taverns while participating on the ever-loved Booze Cruz. Everyone tags this activity differently; from Pound-n-Pedal, Schwinn Dig, Bike-Seat-2-Bar-Seat, to Peddle-And-Puke. The professionals are easy to recognize on the Strand by their fearless lack of helmets, flip flops and sunglasses at 10:00pm. Regardless of their sex, baskets dawn the handlebars in order to provide needed storage for cell phones, Visine and a can of WD-40 for the rusted parts that tend to sieze up inbetween bar stops. Participants enjoy the sites from Redondo Beach to Manhattan Beach by casually peddling from watering hole to hole, all the while saving Mother Earth.
