Despite the mid-west location of Denver, there are a select few places where sushi lovers can feed their cravings with fresh quality and sometimes even with style. All of these Denver sushi restaurants are places I've been to regularly, so consider this my "best of" list. You'll find some of these on Zagat or Citysearch lists, but a few are more obscure, and a couple too new for the national guide writers to have found.
One of my chef’s used to work at Hapa in Denver… he’s the one that told me it was a lock that the Rockies were going to win the World Series and suggested I bet the farm on such a conclusion. Needless to say he doesn’t work with me anymore. Nice guide! :)
The standard all try to aspire to, and most miss. Uber fresh, and a great upscale spot. Borders on being “over the top” and a tad annoying at times, but a tier one place, and a must visit for any sushi loving local or visitor. Located in the trendy neighborhood of Pearl St South, which sports a growing base of unique local shops and restaurants.

A very good new entrant to Denver’s sushi scene, with a great ambiance and a real selection of unique rolls and very fresh sushi. Located in the Belmar neighborhood, in the town center area.
Hip urban spot at the intersection of 15th and Platte street in Lower Downtown, bordering on LO-HI. This one is very sleek and almost painfully stark in design. The sushi has been raved about a lot, but my experience has been very good but not great. On the expensive side, but definitely a great date spot.

A great suburban find. Located in an unassuming strip mall in Littleton – near the southwest plaza shopping center. Modern nice interior, small and cozy. Quality fresh sushi, and a decent selection of unique roll inventions.

A sister to the Pearl St spot in Boulder, where “modern” sushi reigns the menu. Don’t expect traditional, where things like strawberries top rolls, and names such as “multiple orgasm”, “mork and mindy” and “green eggs and ham” make the purist scoff at their cuisine. A very hip decor and scene.

Located in the botox district of cherry creek north, yet traditional enough so as not to be crowded by cougers or scenesters (a good thing!). Very good consistent quality sushi, with a nice outdoor patio in the summer where you can admire or snicker at the crowd.

Great Guide. Sushi Tazu is my favorite. They make a philadelphia roll that is the best I have ever tasted.
