You May Be an Adult, But You Can Be a Kid in Boston!

You're not a kid. And you don't have kids. So why would you care about places and activities for kids in Boston? Well, kids like to have fun, right? And you like to have fun (hopefully). Sometimes it's fun to act like a kid, so put away your responsibility and pretend you're a kid in Boston for the day (just don't forget you still have to go to work tomorrow!).
I am DYing to go the Franklin Park Zoo. This is a great guide full of fun stuff!
Play in Pharoh's Tomb
Participating in Tomb, the interactive experience at 5W!its.
5W!ts Interactive Experience
Now, I’ve never gone to 5W!ts before, but it just shot way up on my “list of things I MUST do now!” It’s an interactive entertainment experience in which you go “head to head with Pharoh” Curious? I sure am.
According to the 5W!ts website: “Participants get to play the role of hero in their own adventure, as they are confronted with puzzles, challenges, twists, and traps to test their bodies and minds. Sharp eyes, good ears, and quick wits will be required for any chance of successfully completing your personal adventure!”
I can’t wait to get a group of my friends together and go participate in a show at 5W!its! And to think, I didn’t even know this was right down the street from me.
The museum may seem kid-like, but what Bostonian doesn’t want to see Larry Bird’s locker?

New England Aquarium
The New England Aquarium is located right in the city, so you really have no excuse not to go. I’m always impressed by the penguins at the aquarium, probably just as much as all the 3-year-old running around. The aquarium also features lots of seals, octopus, sea lions, and fish (duh). But my favorite is the sand tiger shark. Did you know they’re not harmful to humans? Whew.

And See a Shark!
And my favorite at the New England Aquarium, the shark!
Take an insider’s video tour of the New England Aquarium. It will make you want to take a trip there right away. Watch the sea lions talk, it’s incredible!
You’ll feel like you’re really there at the Omni Theatre. And you might even learn something too!
The Omni Theatre
At the Mugar Omni Theatre, “the world’s largest film format is projected on the five-story-tall IMAX Dome screen.”
When I was a kid, I was scared of the Omni Theatre because the movies feel SO real. I think I’m pretty much over my fear now, and love going to the Museum of Science to catch a show. Constantly changing, the movies take you all around the world, some to Egypt, some Antarctica, etc.
Where else in Boston can you see giraffes and zebras?? Hmmm, I can’t think of anywhere.
Franklin Park Zoo
Whoever says zoos are just for kids doesn’t know what they are talking about. Franklin Park Zoo is perfect for Bostonians craving a get-away from cars and buses to see some wildlife. A 72-acre site, the zoo has lions, giraffes, zebras, gorillas, and so much more.
In the meantime, check out the renovations they’re doing on the Boston Tea Party Ship!
Get Close to the Wolves
Wolf Hollow
I haven’t been to Wolf Hollow since I was a little kid obsessed with all things animals, especially wolves. I’ve outgrown my “I want a pet wolf” days, but I would still love to go back to Wolf Hollow and see the little pups.
Located in Ipswich, outside of Boston, Wolf Hollow lets you get super up close to real wolves and see them in their pack. You can also watch a “one hour educational lecture” about the wolves.
Wolf Hollow is a non-profit organization so your price of admission and any money you might happen to spend at the gift shop is how they survive. Who doesn’t love cute wolves? Especially when they’re behind a fence (come on, I love wolves, but I don’t want to get that close).

Play Board Games!
Board games are not just for kids. In fact, my friends and I have been known to have some pretty crazy get-togethers involving board games (alcohol may or may not have been involved). So when it’s rainy and you just can’t drag yourself out of the apartment, get some friends together and have a game night.
There are a couple perfect stores in the Boston area for all your board game needs!
Oops, how did that get in there? Well OK, so it’s not exactly for kids, but at the end of the day, you’re an adult, and you get all the benefits that come with being an adult. Like going out and relaxing with a nice cold Sam Adams. But that doesn’t mean you have to take the responsibility back just yet; be a kid for just a couple hours more. A kid, only with a beer. Right.
Make sure you drink it the way it was intended!
Places Where You Can Be a Kid in Boston
These places and activities are NOT just for kids. But they’ll help people of all ages feel like a kid again!
