Who would have ever guessed that a show about tattoos and watching people GET tattoos would be so interesting?? Well, after Kat Von D, the hot woman tattoo artist made her appearance on Miami Ink, where she later had a falling out with the owner Ami James, TLC decided to keep it going. I was hooked. Partially because of the stories behind people's tattoos. I always wonder, "why would someone get THAT tattooed on them PERMANENTLY for the rest of their lives???" Well, sometimes there are very good stories behind those random pictures. On top of that, Kat Von D decided to open up her store using ALL chick artists (ok fine, there is one token man.) Hot, talented, tattooed babes. Here's your guide to LA Ink.
The Mastermind
Kat is the super smokin’ babe behind the show LA INK, the show chronicles her opening her tattoo shop; High Voltage, picking out the tattoo artist and then follows her clients, their stories and some of her personal life including her romances with rockstars, messy divorces, friendship splits, partying, etc.
Kat’s best known for her black and white portrait tattoos, that are INCREDIBLE. Being the skilled artist that she is she started tatting people when she was fourteen (damn. some people don’t even hit puberty by the time they’re fourteen.)
Throughout the show Kat expresses her love for: tattoos, her adopted hometown LA, her roots Mexico where she was born and Argentina where her family was born, friends and her family.
Its true. I totally have a girl crush.
THE CAST
Throughout the show it isn’t just Kat that’s followed, we watch; Hannah, who moves to L.A. to be a part of the shop and leaves her teenage daighter back in Chicago but sticks around so she can continue tatting her super colorful tats, then there’s Kim, the yoga guru, Corey the token MALE and idol of Kats and then Pixie the shop manager/kat’s best friend, who later leaves after a falling out with “the boss.”

Kat not only uses tattooing as a means for self expression but MAKEUP as well. So what does a mogul like Kat do in that situation? Come out with a makeup line, obviously. Buy her sassy lipstick and STUFF at Sephora, with sassy names like: Underage red, Hellbent, Lolita and Misfit.
When you’re friends with Kat Von D, not only do you get first dibs on getting incredible tattoos done by her, but she also lets you set up a ramp in her store…that’s right there she is with one of her crazy, also former Realty stars, skater friends Bam Margera.
