Sixteen year old dancing on tables at 21+ clubs, twisted rumors, love triangles, deceit, sex, wealth, and the phrase "I killed someone" coming from a pretty little blonde's mouth could only be seen on none other than, Gossip Girl. The story lines and the characters are just so outlandish, that it's hard not to get addicted. At the end of each episode you're left wondering, "WHATS GONNA HAPPEN NEXXXXT.??!?!? They couldn't possibly top what happened this week." But, they do. The best part? These rich private school kids have New York City as their playground, both on and off screen. Here are couple of the Gossip Girl hot spots.
THE SHOW
Based on the book series by Cecily Von Ziegesar, Gossip Girl covers the live of Upper East Side private school kids. Their inheritances and wealthy families, and all of the inner workings of these privileged messed up kids. Their lives are chronicled and watche dby an unseen character known as, “Gossip Girl” who blogs about their every move. Even the things we weren’t supposed to know. No one knows who the Gossip Girl is, is she an insider? Is she receiving tips?? Who is this character????? Similar to real-life sites that blog about Manhattan socialites like Tinsley Mortimer, Olivia Polermo (some say the character Blair Waldorf is based on her, and they look shockingly similar) and Lydia Hearst who has guest stared on the show.
What some call a Sex and The City knock off for teenagers, Gossip Girl can always guarantee; booze- underage drinking, GOSSIP, and a lavish designer wardrobe.
Throughout the show the emphasis on being from The Upper East Side is placed heavily on the characters who aren’t. Like Dan and Jenny Humphrey played by Penn Badgley and Taylor Momsen. The characters whose father was a former rockstar and dated Serena van der Woodsen’s character played by Blake Lively, live in BROOKYLN. GASSSSSP. It’s all about location, location, location withe these kids.

Where the magic happens:
Though much of the show is filmed on location in New York City, many of the interior shots such as apartments, classes, clubs, etc are shot at Silvercup Studios in Queens. So though it manages to all look glamorous on screen they really just have GREAT set designers ;)
SILVERCUP STUDIOS
Some pretty great shows/movies have been shot here: The Sopranos, Ugly Betty, GOSSIP GIRLS, Sex and the City, Gangs of New York, When Harry Met Sally, Big Daddy, Romancing the Stone, Two Weeks Notice, among a list of many, many others.
Serena van der Woodsen
Also know in real life as Blake Lively. She is the main character behind the show. The drama is mostly based around the twists and turns in her little world. In the show Serena has returned from “boarding school” after she disappeared without telling anyone where she was going. She is now back living with her mother and post-suicidal gay brother, in a suite in the New York Palace Hotel while their apartment is getting remodeled.

The Front Room Gallery is used as the facade of Rufus’ art gallery , the former rockstar and dad to Dan Humphrey and former lover of Serena’s mother.
Communitea used as the faced and interior for Dan Humphrey’s favorite little coffee shop, supposedly set in Brooklyn. When they aren’t filming the store is till up and running for the public.

THE CLOTHING
Ok. Every time I watch an episode I am absolutely floored and usually that turns to some sort of rage/anger, by their outfits. I have to say that the stylists on this show are some of the best out there, though they are “somewhat” unrealistic. I suppose when you have a huge budget and you’re a stylist the idea of dressing a fifteen year old in a 10,000 outfit to go to school sounds like fun and maybe that’s precisely why this show is so interesting. The similarity they have with Sex and the City is that they where clothes that in “real life” most people would never be able to get away with. Unless you were, just that fierce. With the money that these characters seem to have their outfits have NO limitations and they means on their bank account either.
Henri Bendel where the characters can often be seen shopping for the latest, trendiest and most EXPENSIVE clothes on the planet. It really is a fantastic store.
Serena wearing a Pamela Dennis gown to the Debutante ball. Of course she was at a debutante ball….a rich girl’s life wouldn’t be complete without a debutante ball.
Now, this is what I’m talking about when I say there are certain outfits on the show that MOST PEOPLE wouldn’t be able to “pull off.” If any other teenager wore this outfit to school, she’d get her ass beat. THOUGH- it is an adorable outfit, even if it IS slightly ridiculous.

Also know as, Leighton Meester in real life. Blair if the ultimate snob of the school. She is the one who is sugary sweet to your face and will stab you in the back the second you make a turn. Her mother is a fashion designer and from the looks of her name…she is an heir of the Waldorf’s. Blair has her gaggle of followers (very highschool drama) and people vying for her attention and approval.

This is the store front used for Blair’s mom’s designer clothing store. Where Jenny Humphrey famously stole that dress….
Here Serena and Blair chatting on the steps on the Metropolitan Museum of art and I’d like to point out Seren’as ridiculously HOT Chanel boots…...which mind you are probably about six grand.
