To all those 90's kids...
Poor 90's. We were hyped up in the 80's and fowarding to the millenium, we passed your radicalness way too quickly.
Nestle Wonder Ball
Oh I wonder, wonder what’s in a Wonder Ball?
Who knows what’s inside it a Wonder Ball may hide?
something something…with candy shapes inside?
I’ll spare all of you who actually read this. The theme song is too dang catchy. It was a chocolate ball…with candy INSIDE! Wicked.
Eat one.
Jelly Shoes
I don’t care if they are coming back or not. They are from the 90’s. When you put a pair of those on, you just need a push pop and a scrunchie and you are total 90’s nerd. Or maybe I just did this, I’m not sure.
Disney Princesses
Disney had a way with kids…in brainwashing them with PRINCESSES. So sad.
Stretchy (cotton, leggings, whatever) Pants
I have every color. That includes neon ones. Don’t forget floral patterns and such.
The girl doing Skip-it is wearing them too! Conformist.
Toy Story
I loved this movie. “YOU ARE A TOY! You’re, you’re, you’re…an action figure!”
I’m really sorry if I quote too much.
Forrest Gump
I’ll be nice and not give you the chocolate quote.
But…Jenn-AY
Anyway, like I was sayin’, shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. There, uh, shrimp kabobs, shrimp creole… shrimp gumbo, panfried, deep fried, stir fried. There’s pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp… shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich… that’s, that’s about it.
Ok, done. Promise.
Tamagotchi
Dumbest…toy…ever. I just kept pressing the reset button the whole time.
Skip-it
Sure, I thoroughly enjoyed this toy…once I got past the brutality of the thing. It looks nice, but then, BAM, it goes plastic mace on your ankle.
It’s ok though, Skip-it, I still have you in my garage.
Klutz
TRINKETS! ew. Does anyone remember Klutz? I do.
Klutz Company, do you realize how much my parents wasted money on stupid boxes to make things such as friendship bracelets, sand bottles, and shapes with string like the Eiffel Tower (which was really cool)?
I don’t know, I was too young. That’s why I asked.
Pokemon
Confession, I was a Pokemon fan. I even bought the trading cards and didn’t know how to play the game. That’s how my 90’s kid phase rolled.
Gotta catch em all. Way to ruin any grammar that I learned throughout my education.
M.A.S.H.
I’m guessing only girls did this. Mansion, attic, shack, house? Yeah…
It was a quick game you wrote down on paper. You wrote down about four choices in each category (boyfriend, car, pet, number of kids, job, etc.) like multiple choice. But, wait, THERE’S MORE! Then you would trace a swirl around until someone says stop, count the spaces between the lines, then cross out every choice in each category as the number you counted.
That’s how we determined our lives. Look at us now. Wait, we haven’t gotten that far.
Mortal Kombat
I loved Mortal Kombat. Actually, I loved any cartridge game since you could practically run them over with bull-dozers and still play with them (I don’t suggest doing this.)
N-64 was and still is close to my heart. Amen.
MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice
Has anyone attempted the Hammer dance or wore Hammer pants (or, perhaps, did these things simultaneously)?
Or are you that white kid that rooted for Vanilla Ice for finally allowing you to listen to rap even though he was a punk?
Either way, you’re a 90’s kid.
Hercules and Xena: The Battle for Mount Olympus
Eh, I watched this. 5,000 times.
Power Ranger Light-up Shoes
Just Power Rangers or light-up shoes if you prefer.
I stepped harder when I walked by people to be cooler.
Since the pogo stick was too hard I always relied on these.
Slap Bracelets
Remember how they started cutting kids… slicing their wrists. I saw these in Hot Topic the other day… They had Twilight all over them.
Pogs
Oh, Pogs! Such a cheap, yet fun toy. Whoever thought of these was a genius. And honestly, I wish Pogs were still cool. But would they even keep kids’ attention for more than 5 minutes these days??
