Dog owners love spoiling their little furry friends. And in today's world, there are just SO many ways possible to spoil your dog. Without a pup of my own, I'm stuck spoiling my little cousins (my aunt and uncle's dogs), not that they need much more spoiling. From doggy bakeries to designer duds and more, how far will you go to make your pooch happy? Boston is like a heaven to dogs when it comes to yummy treats and fashionable accessories.
Cause to Paws
Since Cause To Paws is in my neighborhood in Coolidge Corner, Brookline, this is my go-to spot whenever I need to buy a pet gift. They carry pretty much every chew toy in the world. Not to mention they have a really cute, though tiny, bakery. The dogs I know really seem to enjoy the brownies and peanut butter cookies.
The women who work at Cause to Paws are also super nice. Of course, your pets are always welcome!
Cause to Paws is a classy place. Plus, they always have a little dish of water outisde so your dog can hang out while they wait for you to buy them presents. Bonus-there’s a bran new When Pigs Fly bakery right next door, so you can get yourself a treat or two too!
How cute is the little Cause to Paws bakery?? Seriously, this bakery makes me want to maybe just try a little bit of a dog treat. I swear I haven’t. But that doesn’t mean I haven’t thought about it.
The Polka Dog Bakery is probably one of the nicest dog bakeries anywhere. In fact, it’s probably nicer than most human bakeries. They have a treat for every kind of doggy sweet tooth. They also have totally awesome events, like doggy brunches, doggy social hours, birthday parties, pet psychics, and so much more. Polka Dog Bakery is a dog’s dream come true. And not so bad for the dog’s owner either!
Located in the ever classy South End, Polka Dog Bakery is absolutely adorable from the outside…and the inside!
Um, is it really bad that the Polka Dog Bakery is making me drool. I want a cannoli! No fair! Why can’t I have a cannoli?
What?? Is this dog getting wasted?? Well, maybe. but it’s OK, because he’s just hanging out at one of Polka Dog Bakery’s events. This is the Mutts ‘n Marinis event at the Hotel Nine Zero. Don’t worry though, it’s OK, because the event was for charity. And every dog needs a cosmo once in a while, right?
Another classy South End establishment, Pet Shop Girls (um, how cute is that name??) are well-known for the wide variety of dog food that they carry- all natural and with little or no corn in them. They also have tons of unique toys for your pooch that you won’t be able to find anywhere else.
Pets are obviously allowed at Pet Shop Girls. And you better bring your pup, because he or she is going to fall in love at first sight. Of course, you might have to deal with lots of begging to go back.
Peanut truffle dog treats made by the Pet Shop Girls? Um, yes please. Oh, they’re for dogs?? Right. I knew that.
Doesn’t it seem like all these doggy stores are in the nicest, classiest neighborhoods? Four Preppy Paws is no exception. Located in the heart of Beacon Hill, on Charles St., Four Preppy Paws is always fun to browse around in. This store is for the pup who is a prep at heart. Lots of Nantucket-style leashes, collars, and water-toting bags in preppy colors and designs, your dog will fit right in on the beach this summer.
Four Preppy Paws is located in Beacon Hill and even looks like a snobby dog store from the outside. The cutest, most loyal snobby dog in the world, of course.
Four Preppy Paws also sells baked goods. Though some of them actually come from the Polka Dog Bakery in the South end. Nothing like saying Happy Easter to your dog like a bunny cookie.
These are probably the best dog toys in the world. What little pup wouldn’t be thrilled to receive a pair of “Jimmy Chews,” some “Chewnel #5” perfume, or a new “Chewy Vuitton” purse??
If you want your dog to be living in style, these toys are an absolute must!
REAL Designer Doggy Gear
Oh, the Chewy Vuiton isn’t good enough for your pooch? Okayyy then. I guess you’re looking for some real designer swag for your dog. No problem, there’s plenty of that too. I mean, if you have the money, I guess you may as well dress your pup in the best.
Louis Vuitton Leash
I actually really love this Louis Vuiton leash. So sleek and classy. And how perfect to hook it up to your dogs collar (also LV, of course) while you carry around the matching bag. But seriously, I’m insanely jealous of any dog lucky enough to have this leash. Do they even know how lucky they are?!
I’m not really sure what kind of dog wears a hat, but I suppose if your dog does wear a hat, it may as well be a Gucci hat.
Stop saying this dog looks silly. He doesn’t look silly. He looks classy. Classy, people! Unfortunately, you can’t share your dog’s Gucci hat. Unless you have big floppy ears.
You can’t deny the fact that this dog looks absolutely thrilled to be wearing a sweater. A Coach sweater at that. One that quite possibly matches the Coach bag you’re carrying around.
I have to admit that if I were a bit richer, I would buy the Kate Spade dog dishes. Kate Spade just seems a little more acceptable for dogs than, say, Gucci. But maybe that’s just me.
In any event, I think these dishes are absolutely adorable. So much so that I might even eat out of them myself. What? I can’t afford Kate Spade dishes for both me and my dog!
Remember Beanie Babies? Once the most popular toy around (people would literally fight for these!) now they seem to have disappeared in a major way. So Ty had to do some quick thinking and figured, if people don’t like them, maybe dogs would. So they did a bit of a redesign, threw a label on it, and started marketing them for the dogs.
My “cousins” favorite is the Beanie Baby squirrel. Since they can’t seem to catch a real one, try as they might, they have to be content with a squirrel stuffed with beans.
Sushi For Dogs
Mmmm I love sushi. And any dog of mine is going to have to love it to. And what dog wouldn’t love these deliciously cute toys?
If you think your dog has a more sophisticated palate than most, offer them some sushi. Just make sure they don’t get too much wasabi; I’m not too sure how dogs can handle all that spice.
If you built a machine like this, you wouldn’t have to buy your dog anymore toys. Nor would you ever need to play with him again. You have to admit it’s a good way to keep your dog entertained when you just don’t have time to play. The dog seems amused enough!
Hook On the Leash and Get to Spoiling!
Here are all the Boston spots you need to take your little Fido if you want him/her to be perfectly happy. You do want your pup to be happy, right?
Come on, it’s OK to spoil the pooch every now and then. Even dogs feel better with a little shopping therapy.
