Although gluttony and certainly lust are way up there in my quest for "favorite deadly sin", I think I might have to give the top spot to greed. LA's a big city and there's lots of mooks to be taken and money to be made. Here are a few places that I've seen greed rear its head and a few people that make my avarice pale in comparison.
This is the de facto casino in Los Angeles. All of the LA based poker pros play here, and the limits range from $2 to $10,000. Speaking from personal experience losing a ton of dough, if you’re going to play here, you better be good.

Sometimes I Do Get Lucky
This is what resulted from four hours with the hot hand in the dice game, baby girl! Talking about klakkity klakkity klak! OK, so my girlfriend won all of it for me.
Despite the extremely high real estate prices on the west side, Hollywood Park’s Casino and Race Track has been around forever. $1 hot dogs and beers bring out all of the weirdos, but I always ignore them in pursuit of that money.

The French-style, Normandie Casino features all forms of Poker including Texas Hold’em, Caribbean Stud, and Pai Gow Poker. Too bad I’ve never won here before in all of my visits. Don’t bother frequenting Normandie Casino unless you want to launder a lot of money.

Seeing the Hustler Casino as one of Larry Flynt’s attempts to legitimatize his business holdings, gives you a pretty good idea of the type of business he used to run. I think it’s pretty brilliant that they get male patrons distracted by all the female flesh, but then again that’s for another guide.

OK USA!
I never really equated pornography and gambling with patriotism, but thinking about it now, it all makes sense.
Hollywood Stock Exchange
1925 Century Park E #700, Los Angeles, CA 90067
An innovative concept, the Hollywood Stock Exchange endeavors to put prices on the heads of movie stars and then buy and trade them according to their given market value. Indentured Servitude making a comeback in the 21st century!
1999 Avenue Of The Stars 3200, Los Angeles, CA 90067
With the credit crunch and the fall of investment banks making daily newspapers, none of the once mighty have fallen as hard as Bear Stearns. Greed and fear are said to be the only emotions in the stock game, but apparently the latter was pushed aside in favor of the former.

$2 Bill
Once valued at over $100, JP Morgan’s initial offer for each share of Bear Stearns was $2. Which is just banker-ese for “GOTCHA BITCH!”
A soundtrack to a movie that was never made, Greed Lust and Cloning is like a cross between all of the 007 songs that you heard and Debbie Does Dallas era porn backing music. Don’t tell me you don’t know what I’m talking about!
You know you’ve made it in this town when they name a street after you. Infamous for their powerful Hollywood backers and outlandish theories (Xenu anybody?) L. Ron’s religion brings in a prodigious amount of money, usually spent on wacky proselytizing literature and blue buildings. whisper It’s to keep the aliens away.

Time’s biting expose on Scientology, hosted by… Rick Ross? Seriously??
Hustle-in', Hustle-in'
Rick Ross knows that the biggest hustler in the game be L. Ron Hubbard.
Prosperity Theology
The largely Christian teaching that devout religious belief will result in material prosperity. I’m not a theologist or anything, but wasn’t Jesus all about the poor and the downtrodden? You know, “Blessed are the meek” and “harder for a rich man to enter heaven than a camel to pass through the head of a needle”? Man, Jesus, really knew how to break out the analogies, man!
You see the main pastor Dr. K.C. Price here on Channel 11 every Sunday morning exhorting people to pray, repent and of course donate generously to the church. However, with great power comes great responsibility.

Brilliantly written LA Times article on the founders of TBN and the lavish lifestyles that they have allowed themselves off of contributions.
Appearances are Deceiving
Although in this case, they look as untrustworthy as they really are. It’s unbelievable how many extravagant things these people have bought with poor and impressionable Christians’ money.

GREED. I love sins. This is one of my favorites, next to gluttony.
