The 10 Most Important People That I Would Like To Meet
10- Oprah Winfrey
Millions of people love Oprah Winfrey. They love her show, they love the millions of dollars she spends on gifts that she gives away, and they love that she is in tight with everyone. But this is not why Oprah is on my list of people that I would like to meet, nor will I talk about the thousands of lives that Oprah has helped. Oprah is on my list because of how far she has come. No woman on earth could tell a life story better than Oprah; nobody has ever started with less, nobody has ever fought so hard to work towards their dreams, and nobody has reached such heights as Oprah has. I admire her courage and her ambition, while keeping enough humility to help other people. Anybody who really knows me, knows that I have a completely platonic fantasy of Oprah Winfrey.
Oprah started a youtube video stream a short while ago and this was her introduction to that. Notice here energy and warmth throughout the vidieo, you can tell that she was always meant for great things.
8- Jeff Daniels
Jeff Daniels represents the very essence of humility. Jeff grew up in “hicks-ville” Michigan, but never because distracted with what he wanted with his life and those around him. After he struck it big in Hollywood he returned to Michigan to start a film festival as well as several foundations and scholarships for Michigan Fine art students.
Jeff has always brought joy to other by utilizing his talents in the songs that he writes and the movies that he acts in. No matter how ridiculous or how funny he looks, Jeff knew that he was doing this job to help people find humor in their lives. To help take the edge off of the day, or simply to distract you mind from the rest of the troubles you may have in your life.
Jeff is on my list because people from Michigan do not always get the help that they need or deserve. But Understanding where you come from and utilizing that for the advantage of himself and others shows that he really cares and will continue to care.
6- Peter Fonda
All Peter Fonda had to do in order to be on my list is to play the perfect mind opening role of Wyatt in the movie Easy Rider. The premise of the movie is a story about a man who went looking for America and couldn’t find it. The movie is about two motorcycle hippies on choppers who sell enough drugs to go from LA to New Orleans. On their journey across the U.S. they learn that there are several types of people in this country and not all of them are as friendly or as proper as one might expect. Wyatt and his friends Billy (Dustin Hoffman), and George (Jack Nickelson) are persecuted because of who they are, and they culture that they live. Even in today’s society people have the same problem
4- Bear Grylls
Bear Grylls is on my list of 10 people I want to meet because like any man who realized his potential, he “grabbed the bull by the horns” and has done amazing things with his life. Bear was enlisted in the British SIS at a fairly young age giving him training in several forms of combat, and survival. However when Bear had a free fall accident breaking his back in 3 places, he decided put his talents to a better use.
After months of rehabilitation in 1997, Bear had become the Youngest Briton to climb Mount Ama Dablam in the Himalayas a peak once described by Sir Edmund Hillary as unclimbable. Then in late May of 1998 Bear reached the summit of Mt Everest, at 23 years old. He still holds the record for the youngest to ever reach the summit. Putting him right up near Norman Croucher, the man who climbed Everest as a double amputee.
What does Bear Grylls do now? You may better know him from his television show Man Vs Wild. Every week he demonstrates how to survive in difficult situations, such as being stranded in the desert, crash landed through the jungle, and of course shipwrecked on a deserted island. Bear is also an accomplished writes and motivational speaker. As a man with his experience, he cares to share it with the world!
Bear’s show Man vs. Wild Bear is always showing us how to survive in the wild. In this clip he shows how to survive if you fall through the ice on a frozen lake.
2- Steve McQueen
Being a true master of the manly arts Steve McQueen is placed well into my top ten people. Steve began his career as a race car driver. Winning several race awards and constantly testing the limits. This blossomed a flowerful acting career giving him roles in such movies as; Thomas Crown Affair, The Great Escape, The Cincinnati Kid, The Magnificent Seven, and his most famous classic Bullitt. Later on in his life he decided to learn martial arts, and who better to teach him than Brice Lee.
Steve McQueen has done amazing things I his life and looked good doing it as well. Steve was well known as a dapper dressing man. Style, Talent, and Karate moves who wouldn’t want to be Steve? However he suffered a fatal incident when he was murdered in 1980.
Ford built a Mustang that was inspired by the movie Bullitt because of the amazing chase scene that Steve did in the movie. When the newest edition of the Mustang came out they made a special edition comercial starring Steve McQueen.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Tie for #1
No words can comment on how the man looked at life.
Tie for 1- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Not until recently had anybody set the bar so high for peace and freedom throughout the U.S. As a Caucasian male I cannot begin to understand the torment and oppression that Dr. King has had to endure in his life. But like any man with freedom coursing through his veins, Dr. King stood up for himself and others that had been told they couldn’t eat in a particular restaurant, must sit in the back of the bus, or that their voice would go unheard in history.
Dr. King gave his life to influence humanity, and look how far we have come. People are not longer given limits to their gender or race. Yet while there are still people who would try and prevent these actions, our unity makes us an unstoppable force of freedom and equality, and I am one of millions of people who will gladly follow in his footsteps.
9- Cindy Crawford
Has been on several of my lists for many years now. Rarely do you ever see such a rare beauty that doesn’t come with comments like slut, drunk, anorexic, or other shameful remarks. Cindy Crawford sets the standard for beauty, always has and always will. Balancing a modeling career, a home furnishing design, a leukemia foundation, and a family nobody could ever do these things and look as half as good as she does.
Cindy grew up in a small corn farming town in Illinois and was discovered in high school by a photographer. From there the shy was the limit, Cindy was an instant beauty that was turning heads all over the world. Soon after she was offered a job as a V-jay for MTV’s House of Style which she gladly took.
But along her aspiring career she has been the face of such companies as Pepsi, Omega, Revlon, and so many others. She because some-what of a fitness guru when she began to put out fitness videos and work out tapes. Every woman wanted to look like Cindy and now they had their chance.
Cindy is now living the family life with her husband and two sons in Malibu. On a personal note, I have had a major crush on Cindy Crawford since I was in the 4th grade. I wrote her letters, cut out her pictures in magazines when I saw them and even bought the movie that she had starred in with Steven Baldwin called Fair Game. To this day I still have an autographed headshot that she sent me in response to one of my letters.
Cindy was a model for Pepsi for a while, and while she was employed by them she did comercials like this one.
7- Mahatma Ghandi
The best way to describe Ghandi is Martin Luther King with a spiritual twist. While The british were tearing across the Indian countryside, war was in the brink. Ghandi explained that there are other ways to peace other than violence. We must first learn to fight the anger within ourselves before we can begin to turn our anger onto others.
This is from a movie about the life of Mahatma Ghandi. It was a great movie and this clip shows his compasion for his beliefs and how he shares it with the world.
5- Edward Teach
Because I have a fond love for Pirates it only make sense that Edward Teach be on my list of people that I would like to meet. Pirates have been branded as thieves and vigilantes. They were in fact oppressed people taken from their homes and forced to be seamen for the British Empire. When they revolted against the British they were branded traitors and called Pirates. Edward Teach, better known as Blackbeard, was unique because he was an educated man, he knew how to read and write. He also was a junior officer while still allied with the British so this created a grand opportunity to make Captain.
Edward also knew how to subdue an enemy with out using violence. Yes sometimes violence was necessary but only after non-violent tactics failed to work. Edward was known to entangle pieces of hemp into his beard and light them on fire before boarding another ship. This would give the impression that smoke would radiate from his beard making him incredibly demonic. In his last battle Edward Teach suffered over 20 sword lacerations as well as 5 bullet wounds before dying on his ship. His death represented the end of the golden age of pirates.
3- Christopher Reeve
I have always said that there is no better superhero on and off the screen than Christopher Reeve. That is why he will always occupy a special place on my 10 people that I would like to meet. Chris, from an early age developed a strong sense of character. Involving himself in several sports and activities throughout his youth. He attended Cornell before being accepted into Julliard with advanced standing. Where is roommate was Robin Williams. Chris went on to do such films as Superman I-IV and romance classic Somewhere In Time alongside Jane Seymour.
Chris suffered a tragic accident in 1995 while at a horse riding competition leaving him completely paralyzed from the neck down. However it would take more than paralization to stop a man of his ambition and Chris began to start a series of foundations and charities dedicated to quadriplegic individuals and stem cell research. Chris dedicated his life to these causes until his death in 2004. He will be missed but not forgotten.
This was a comercial made for the superbowl, but it got a lot of people believing in the cause.
Tie for 1- Jim Henson
I have met few people whose childhood has not been influenced by the work of Jim Henson. Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, Fraggle Rock, Muppet Babies, and more! Jim learned at an early age the potential of puppets and began to master the craft. By creating his own version of a puppet called the “Muppet” Jim was able to create an entire world of “google-eyed” people.
Jim worked on several other projects that many may not know about. TV shows like The Storyteller, The Jim Henson Hour, and Dinosaurs. Jim also worked on movies such as Dark Crystal and Labyrinth, and also worked for George lucas designing a large variety of his extra terrestrials.
Jim’s society of cloth creatures have been molding the mind’s of both child and parent for 71 years. They teach us valuable lessons, and knock our socks off. Jim always had a dream of bringing the world together with his love, and even if only for a moment I’m sure he did.
This is a clip of Jim teaching other people how to properly help a muppet act.
When Jim Henson passed away, he had a special guest sing at his funeral.
