IKEA can be a bit of gamble (due to the fact the place is usually swarming with expectant parents and couples who have decided to co-habitate). But, you’ll also encounter singles who are looking to trick out their bachelor or bachelorette pads. And given this location’s proximity to Los Feliz, Silverlake, and Atwater Village the place is usually swarming with hipsters on the weekends. So if you’re into the whole American Apparel look, you might want to christen IKEA as your new weekend hangout. And if you don’t meet anybody you can always drown your sorrows in a plate of meatballs and a glass of lingonberry juice.

Who DOESN’T love ikea? The Swedish chocolate, the hot dogs….oh, the cheap ass furniture. P.S. I bought a really awesome bamboo plant and it’s STILL ALIVE. Ikea is radical.

Ikea is great. I love how you walk through all those fake apartments that look way nicer than you could ever hope for yours to look and then are taken into a warehouse of flat boxes full of stuff that you can put together to resemble bookshelves and coffee tables but will never be quite right. I spend hours here meandering through the fake apartments.

But you know who doesn’t have that kind of patience or interest in interior design? Kids! On a Saturday or Sunday, parents from all over LA drag their kids to this Ikea to pick out new curtains or cabinetry. They try to ply them with frozen yogurt or meatballs from their little cafeteria, but the kids get bored. They start wandering off, jumping on the display beds, hiding behind the kitchen islands and just generally misbehaving. All the while mom & dad are engrossed in the geometric duvet covers and curtain sheers.

This place is awesome. Where else can you get a bookshelf, a bedframe and some Swedish meatballs for $100? Except, maybe Sweden. Anyway, anything you can’t find for free on craigslist, you can find for cheap at Ikea.
