I love Fritto Misto, but I still get totally overwhelmed when I come here. Why is that, you ask? Well, aside from being able to order off the menu (the namesake Fritto Misto platter is divine), you can make your own pasta dish by choosing among pastas, veggie, meats, sauces, etc… I mean can you imagine all the pastarific possibilities!?! Thank goodness you can bring your own wine and pay $2 corkage per person. Otherwise there would be even more decisions to make!

This cozy little Italian spot is located on a rather uninhabited stretch of Colorado Ave., but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t draw crowds. Fritto Misto is casual and affordable (probably the most affordable Italian restaurant you can go to in LA without succumbing to Maria’s Italian Kitchen). The pastas are fresh and the portions are generous. Don’t want anything on the menu? Create your own unique pasta dish by choosing from a selection of pastas, veggies, sauces, etc…
Now I feel like I’m getting to that age where a crazy birthday party in a loud bar just isn’t my thing anymore. What’s great about Fritto Misto is that the food is awesome (and totally reasonable) and they’re able to accommodate fairly big groups even though the restaurant isn’t huge. I went to a small birthday dinner here, but I definitely a couple of big groups celebrating birthdays on the same night. If you’re looking to drink a couple of bottles of vino with your closest friends and actually want to hear what everyone is saying, then you should seriously consider this Italian gem.
