Joan's On Third
Los Angeles, CA 90048
Mentioned in the Following Guides
Joan’s strategically places its baked goods in the window in order to lure dieting Third Street shoppers. But you’re much better off sticking to the sandwich fare here. These cakes may look delectable, but they’re not terribly moist or tasty, for that matter.
Picking up your picnic staples from Joan’s won’t be cheap, but it will sure be tasty. You can get some sandwiches to go, or pick up some delectables from the deli case, home to gourmet salads of all kinds. Stop by the cheese display in the front for some tasty fromage, and if you’re feeling sinful, get some cupcakes at the bakery counter or pick up a few bags of the prepackaged sweets.

Obsessed with their cheese display! I could stand there and sample all day long…

I love the veggie sandwich— I get it every time I go. Hummus and cream cheese sounds like a strange combo, but it’s SO good.

While it’s not 15 pages long, this upscale deli serves an elegant breakfast menu. And unlike neighboring Toast (which serves portions big enough to feed a family of four), Joan’s serves normal-sized meals, so you don’t walk away feeling like a syrup-filled glutton. But just in case, there is chocolate French toast (if you need to satiate your sweet tooth).
