One of the fanciest restaurants I know, Chez Panisse serves a fixed menu, so check their website and make sure they’re serving something you want to eat. It can get pricy (very…very…pricy) but because of the fixed menu, it’s a reliable kind of pricy. You’ll know about how much it’ll cost (not factoring in drinks) before you go, so you wont be put in a situation where your date is suggesting you get two appetizers, and you’re wondering if you can just sign the title of your car over to the restaurant and then pretend you got towed.

Alice Waters is queen of the Slow Food Movement, which has been an inspiration to me and many other cooks trying to improve the health and environment as well as building relationships. To renew Culture as food, she has created foundations, and has built a model that I actually wrote a Non-profit proposal about. Most of My favorite restaurants are in some way tangent to this philosophy, and Alice has been very active in promoting those who she has taught.
