Mention Breakfast in Los Feliz and this is likely the first place that will pop up. Situated in a house on Hillhurst Ave., have a seat on the sprawling patio that’s enveloped in lush vegetation (though maybe not too close to the central fountain with the koi in it — it always smells a little fishy) and enjoy breakfast all day. Home’s omelets and scrambles are always fresh and packed full of fresh veggies and high quality meats. There is also traditional sweeter fare like fluffy waffles and pancakes with fresh fruit and for the crunchy granola types, they have that too. And of course the best part of a weekend breakfast: mimosas!
Stop by during the week for their bargain breakfast specials. If it rains on your al fresco meal, they even offer a discount.
Home also has tasty lunch and dinner options, if you’re into that sort of thing.
I love Home, I really do. But one time I went there and ordered the Tofu scramble instead of an omelet. I love tofu, too, so it isn’t just me being persnickety, but this scramble was gross. All I could taste was salt. I didn’t send it back, because, I’m just not one of those people, but I would never ever order it again.
I’ve also noticed that you get much better food and service if you go here during the week instead of during the weekend brunch rush, but I guess that’s just common sense.
This restaurant on trendy Hillhurst Ave. in Los Feliz is actually located in an old home. An old gargantuan home. However, you’d be a total schmuck if you sat inside (though I once saw Sinbad do it, so maybe it’s not that bad). No, it’s the sprawling patio, complete with a fountaining koi pond and plenty of trees where you should sit. ENjoy breakfast all day or something else that’s tasty with a mimosa or any of your favorite cocktails from your full bar.
But watch out, at certain times of the year, the trees drop these little seed pods that will get all up in your omlette. Trust me, they don’t taste good.
