About Me
A recent graduate from San Francisco State University, I am always looking to challenge the next frontier. I am a writer, a food lover, and have cooked in restaurants for many years. I am passionate about San Francisco, and love exploring the many neighborhoods and hilltops in my free time, as well as visiting the many unique restaurants and pubs. And always, "Always look on the bright side of life..." (Monty Python's Life of Brian).

In the background you can see St. Ignatius Cathedral, next to the hospital of USF. It doesn't take much searching to find any of the plethora of schools that call SF home.... you just have to keep your eyes open... and there are plenty of them.

It took me several years before I moved into SF, and I found a lot of places in O-town and Berkeley to hang out at. I still try and visit the East bay as much as I can.

Several various unique neighborhoods, but all of "Downtown" is to where Transit and the streets flow. It is where I go when I want to feel like Herb Caen, Gary Cooper, or a metro, or even where W go to just get a good Sammy or some Fish and Chips. Always beautiful people everywhere, and unique experiences to treasure abound, hidden around every corner.

I actually spend more time here than anywhere, as it is the conduit to the rest of the city. A didactic collection of cultures, from Russian Emigres to Latinos, there are taquerias, irish pubs, polish cafes, and high-end pizzerias around every corner... a stop for anyone who wants an authentic experience, this really is the place to be, and really so much of everything, I can't keep up with it all. Every time I go down there to check something off my to-do list, I discover ten more places to ...

Also called "Sunny Valley," "Loony Valley," And "Stroller Valley;" Centered on 24th Street just up the hill from the Mission, and a hop from the Castro and Delores Park, Noe Valley is protected from fog by Twin Peaks, and is a very friendly neighborhood. Many restaurants have patio or sidewalk seating, and the mix of architectural styles is typical of most neighborhoods in the city. Good luck finding parking: take Muni instead: The J-Church, 24, and 48 bus-lines are regular and fun to ride.

This neighborhood is iconic San Francisco: most notably for the Summer of Love, when Jefferson Airplane and the Dead frequented the local theaters and headshops. Hippies still hang out here, true, but great cuisine and bars are also a treat not to be overlooked.

San Francisco has so many unique neighborhoods with great history, it's hard for me to choose a favorite. They are all worth a look, as the environs and as unique as the micro-climates. Most people are familiar with the

There are lots of ways to get around and see the city. You can sign up for a tour on a bus at $60 a pop, or rent a bike and find your own way. Or, for Adventurous Hiking Tours in the City, you can email me for an appointment (hoofinitSF@gmail.com), and get a personalized experience. As a local who loves this city and sharing experiences with people, I think it's the best way to get to know any town.

I am a firm believer in, and am very excited about, the Slow Food Movement taking root in the city. I did a Non-profit proposal based on this program, but I really don't have the time to see it through. Time, I am sad to discover, is a limited resource I never have enough of... to spend time online, researching and blogging versus being out on the town, or doing homework at school... At least after cooking a great meal I can sit down and enjoy some precious quality time with my friends and fa...

I don't remember falling in love with San Francisco, I just always seemed to be. As a kid listening to "Sitting on the dock of the Bay," Seeing all those great Hitchcock films, Dirty Harry, Clint Eastwood in "Escape from Alcatraz," and reading all the writing about SF, from Jack London to Anne Rice, I think they all played a part. Even now, I am sometimes still amazed that I live here, even after five years of exploration and adventures. It's all about the simple joys in life, I try to remin...

It seems we as a culture are forgetting what it means to help out in our communities. I forgot, a while ago, how valuable it is to serve during the elections. But every weekend, I see volunteers trucking around the Bayshore or at Twin Peaks, weeding and picking up garbage. Churches across the city reach out to the downtrodden and lost... community leaders speak out for minorities and High School students. San Francisco is more civic minded than I have ever experienced anywhere else, and I try...

Poetics and Philosophy are alive and well in San Francisco. We are a group of people who get together in Berkeley Sporadically to throw out our recent projects and sound off each other... If only I had more time between work, school, sunny, baby, and business... Please feel free to add your own verbal magic, but give yourself credit. This is, after all, "Poetry for the People."

The Sunset district isn't equal to Strip in our Sister to the South... Even if it seems like Suburbia, the fog-blanketed oceanside of SF has some great treasures.

This is actually four peaks ... three on one side, and Mt. Davidson on the other. You can see as far east as Mt. Diablo, and out to the ocean. There are spectacular views of the Golden Gate, Sunset, and all of the East Side, From Inner Sunset down to Daly City. This has been my favorite haunt of late.
