So I have a boyfriend that's verbal . . . dare I say, hyper-verbal. Sometimes when interacting, there seem to be no thoughts going on that aren't turning in to words - yes, I believe Heidegger called this is called stream-of-consciousness. And that oft-discussed "filter"? Foghgettaboutit. This makes for a very interesting relationship, and a wonderful opportunity to share. Oh, and please feel free to add your own significant-other-diar... as I'm sure I'll be updating this guide often!

Congrats! You are a bridesmaid and it's June - let the obligations begin! For women in our 20s to 30s the month of May can mark the beginning of expensive weekends all the way through August. Not to mention time spent on bridesmaid conference calls (oh yes, it's happened), bachelorette parties, and getting that darn dress altered. For someone who has never been particularly into weddings, marriage in general, or anything fluffy and/or lacy, it's been a long haul through my 20s. How many times...

2009! And my butt just totally exploded. Yes, I know the Gaza strip is F*#ked, and we here in the US are facing facing a 300 million dazillion quillion budget deficit and a recession, but let's get our priorities straight: after 8 months of living with my boyfriend, 4 months of drinking Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale, and two months of my family putting lavish food in front of my face, my behind has forcefully redefined its boundaries. So I've been searching out the Best Wackiest Ways to lose...

Yes, in the East yoga asana is a deeply traditional, ancient practice with the ultimate goal of longer, deeper meditation. But we're on the West Coast, baby! Which means at least some of what we call asana (yoga poses) becomes about the YOGA BOO-TAY!! Which I don't think is always a bad thing, if you don't fixate on it - women on their own and men on, well, everyone else's. So here's your guide to how your yoga pants can aid you in your pursuit of strong asanas and a tight-looking bum.

OK, so we think we just couldn't do without our television. It seems a natural relaxation method to dish with the girls about "The Hills" and/or kill a 6 pack of IPA while watching NFL Sunday in your pajamas (though 2 of the 2.5 hours of airtime are actually ill-conceived commercials, NOT football). But consider this: how many hours a week do you spend parked in front of the tube? You can't get those hours back, my friend. Those go down in history as the three hours you spent picking your l...

Never skied Heavenly? How to hit the mountain, leaving no regrets and no terrain un-shredded at one of the most beautiful and family-friendly Lake Tahoe ski resorts! Why trust my guide-ership? "Karey Ann loves sculpted K2s, moguls, and fresh tracks. She has skied Lake Tahoe, Mt. Bachelor, Banff, Big Sky, Vail, Telluride, Mammoth, Big Bear, Sun Valley, and Snowbird; she has extensively skied and lived in Breck CO and Whistler Canada." So don't question my cred.

Facebook. Facebook is one of the modern facets of our modern lives. An institution about which we say, "How did we ever get along before?" We all know people who spend hours a day Facebooking. Heck, I know people who's job it is to make applications for Facebook, then they come home and Facebook on their own time. I know people who've made Facebooky songs about Facebook. Facebooking people who Facebook non-stop! It's become a verb and an adjective, for Pete's sake! Well, I don't think Facebo...

Somehow the obligatory trip to Las Vegas is inescapable. It's someone's 21st, 25th, or 30th birthday. One of your classier friends decides to tie the knot - neon, whiskey, and Elvis included. Oh the horror - your company/industry attends a 5 day Las Vegas conference. Possibly the worst scenario: a family reunion (it happened to me. Apparently elderly Norwegian immigrants just loooooove Las Vegas). Never fear, cool, cultured, and possibly mildly acerbic people! Consider this guide your ...

Is it August already? Where did the summer go? This was supposed to be the endless summer of adventure and music and fun! Argh! Well, I'm not going to get to Mexico or get to sail the Bay, but at least I can still jam in one more read before fall hits. What were your favorite summer reads?

Right now it's much trendier to order a Pabst and a shot of cheap whiskey and be done with it, but I just can't abide. I'm a Booze Bourgeoise, you see. Cultivating a taste for specialty booze can be expensive (not to mention aggravating to your poor liver), but once you get a taste of the good life, there's no going back. Care to divulge your favorite bourgie boozes?

I noticed a creative streak in vehicle owners as soon as I spent more time in Oakland. This streak runs deep, so I decided to see what other crazy cars are out there. Mostly they can be put into four categories: Collage Cars, Obama Cars, Religious Cars, and Theme Cars, but I think we can agree that they are all visual expressions of time well spent!
