About Me
as a word nerd and tea enthusiast, I can often be found with a few fingers on the keyboard and the other hand holding the dainty handle of one my many teacups. jazz is the soundtrack to my life and antique stores are my home away from home. I'm not sure I could live (or cook) without the Food Network.

Making a noteworthy impression can be pretty difficult. Although these post-it note artists seem to know what they're doing. Forget about emoticons and face paint, all you need it a post-it note, a pen and the ability to make a fool out of yourself. Here's to memorable expressions!!

Philadelphians have their favorite pizza spots throughout the city. So, in an effort to figure out which "reigned supreme" (inside joke for Iron Chef fans), I did a little of personal taste-testing (tough job) and asked everyone on Twitter to tweet their suggestions. So, if you're looking for the best pie around town, try one of these Philly pizzerias.

Admit it, you have a thing for school supplies. Above all, you can't get enough of those fabulously colored synthetic pieces of rubber, erasers. So take the bin out from under your bed and come clean about your eraser collection. What's your favorite eraser?

I'm not sure I could live, or cook for that matter, without spending precious time devouring several cooking shows on the Food Network and Bravo. Although it's easier to train your fingers to dial for takeout, don't you think it's time you teach those digits some new tricks? (This is where you scream, YES!) Lucky for you Philadelphians, there are several teach-me-how-cook opportunities throughout the city. Did I mention they are super cheap or even free? That means you can splurge on grocerie...

Etsy crafters love to express their DIY love by making fabulous costumes for pets. I'm tempted to call them "outfits," but it's easier to think that they only dress up their pet for Halloween. Also, take notice of the fact that these costumes are for small dogs who won't put up a might. You don't see a German Shephard with fancy, colored fleece covering it's body. Oh, and it's not a coincidence that all of the cat costumes consist of one accessory (they'd scratch your eyes out if you tried to...

Philly has found it's way into many musical creations, whether in a hysterical, memorable rhyme or a touching ballad. From Boyz II Men, to Bruce Springsteen, and Elton John, the city of brotherly love has everybody singing. Here's Philly's soundtrack and a couple of venues where you can hear the city's sound live and in person.

A product of the 60's, Maurice Sendak's Where The Wild Things Are has been inspiring us to all seek out our inner wild child. Who knew that this simple story (only ten sentences) would be turned into an animated short, opera, claymation, and now an elaborate film. So in anticipation of this live-action movie, let's take a look at how we wildly express our love for WTWTA...

The city of brotherly love is known for its stellar geek scene. But, don't take my word for it. Just take a look at Geekadelphia (geekadelphia.com), Philadelphia's Premiere Geek Blog founded by Eric Smith (yes, that's him in the picture) and Tim Quirino. Consider them Philly's geek connoisseurs. So when I asked Eric where to go if you wanted to shop, eat and play like a Philly geek, this is what he had to say...

Many often think that Rocky is Philly's iconic figure, but our real hero is Mr. Ben Franklin (although I prefer to refer to him as B. Frank. It has a certain Philly charm to it). Restaurants, streets, and even a bridge have been graced with his name. I mean, he did discover electricity and form the first public lending library, not to mention the fact that he was known for being an author, printer, political theorist, politician, scientist, etc. Needless to say, B. Frank had a mind that was o...

Some people watch TMZ or E! to see their stars, but my celebrities can all be found on one channel, the Food Network. So when the Next Food Network Star finale aired this week, my utensils were crossed for a Jeffrey Saad win. His show, Ingredient Smuggler, would have showcased exotic ingredients from all over the world. I know, amazing. Although sadly he only ended up with a second place ribbon. So in hopes that they create his show anyway (a girl can dream), here are a few exotic/not commonl...

The paper fans aren't cutting it (well, except for your finger), you don't have the cash for your AC bill, and you've been banned from getting near any of Philly's public fountains (who knew you couldn't take a dip?). I prefer to whip up a pitcher of some seriously fresh and chilly iced tea. So please put away the store bought cans and sugar powder (GROSS!) and learn how to make and serve some killer iced tea. Why not throw a Philly Chill Out Party and serve some iced tea to friends in need...

Before these slaptastic accessories were ripped from your wrist and banned from your school, you wore them proudly in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Although, what you might not know is that these fad accessories were created by a teacher from Wisconsin. I wonder if he created these to get back at his students that pulled pranks in his classroom? I mean they were made with layers of flexible stainless steel spring bands sealed with a thin fabric cover. Ouch! Although the pain behind the slap w...

Philly sports teams and fans don't have the best reputations. So, they should consider following in the footsteps of the most beloved face of Philly sports, the Phillies Phanatic. He's not just a mascot with some seriously killer dance movies, he's a role model. Don't be green with envy. So stop cussing, throwing punches and screaming and take note of how this masterful mascot rolls.
