Did you know that November 27th is Bruce Lee Day in Seattle (as well as his birthday)? Well now you do! In celebration of his amazing life and legacy, I prepared this crossover guide as tribute to the man, and the great city where many of his formidable years were spent. If guides could occupy physical space, rest assured that this one would be an axe kick to the face of awesomeness.

Being a mega-fan of roller coasters and thrill rides in general, I can applaud the efforts of anyone so dedicated to them that they would take the time to engineer their own pulse-pounding homebrew contraption. However, after watching the collection of videos below, I find my common sense at odds with the thrill-seeking part of my brain, which apparently isn't aware of how squishy and breakable we all are on the inside.

When it comes to finding great beer in the Northwest, everyone knows just where to go: Portland, Oregon. Which is kind of bullshit, considering the incredible amount of beer both made in and made available here in Seattle. Now I would never make such a dastardly claim that our fair city can keep up with the Portland beer scene when it comes to quantity, but you may just be surprised to learn that quality is a entirely different thing.

So the other day I was watching "Access Hollywood" (or was it "Extra"? They're just so different!) and Spencer and Heidi were on and I thought, why are they even on TV, and for that matter why are they even famous? And that got me thinking, there are a ton of people out there who don't deserve to be followed around by the paparazzi or blogged about by the likes of Perez Hilton. Yet they continue to be dubbed "celebrities." So I want to know, who do you think should be stripped of their celebr...

I am a sucker for any sort of kitchen gadget that a) will somehow turn me into a fantastic cook, b) will save me time, and c) looks cute. As a result, I have far too much stuff stashed inside of my cabinets and in my drawers. It's time to simplify and keep only the essentials! So, tell me: what kitchen gadgets are your favorites? Which do you rely on day in and day out as you cook, bake, or even clean?

You get all dressed up, brush your teeth extra well and make the effort to show up early, even if public transportation has different ideas. But sometimes, you screw up. There's toilet paper on your shoe, your mascara is smudged (true story from my best friend), you blank when they ask you why you'd be a good fit at the company, you're 30 minutes late or...? What's funny, is that I am usually very blunt and honest, and I almost always get the job!

Death isn't funny. Not at all. But Halloween is fast-approaching and we're all feeling a bit ghoulish, aren't we? So, to quote the frozen pizza commercials, "what do you want on your tombstone?" (Or what do you fear?)

I'm a creature of habit. When I had too many Manhattans at Marcus' I have a few tried and true joints where the coffee never disappoints and the omelettes are man-sized.

So, being FAR, FAR, FAR from wealthy myself, I can appreciate the irony of living on "wealthy turf" in Madison Park. I dine alongside them. I grocery shop among them. They stand in line behind me with no idea that I don't own my own home OR have a foundation named after my grandmother. That said, ReallyRichPeople have some great restaurants to pick from!

In general, I loathe Public Displays of Affection, particularly when I am part of the public and not part of the affection. However, I have been known to involve in this kind of self-involved display on occasion, so here are some of the places where I deem it to be acceptable. Please add yours so I can be sure not to go there.

Ok, so I don't have a CD player in my car (and in LA we spend A LOT of time in our cars), so I usually have to listen to the radio. And sometimes a really great, corny song will come on the radio and I think, wow this would make an AWESOME karaoke song. And since I'm a lazy writerly type, I never write anything down, so I wanted to make a list of the best karaoke songs (i.e. the types that get everyone singing along in their drunken states).

People might not be able to agree on politics, how to fix the economy, or the whole Mac vs. PC thing, but there's one thing we can all agree on no matter our political leanings or computer preferences: Trader Joe's is awesome. I have never once in my life encountered someone who says "You know what I really hate? Trader Joe's." So in the spirit of unity and camaraderie, post your favorite TJ's product, tell us something you'd love to see on the shelves at TJ's, or write a poem expressing your...

Anyone who's ever worked in or near an office environment knows that buzzwords are the new black. Managers use them to feel powerful; hearing them makes employees want to vomit. They're intented to motivate and make sexy what's really going on: the same old work you've been doing all this time, just wrapped up in nicer paper and, this time, with a ribbon.

I fancy myself a Pho connoisseur: I love pho. Not just any pho though: veggie pho. Some of you may think this is a cop out because traditionally pho is beef based. I like beef, just not beef pho. Now the point: PHO 900 on Broadway, 900 Broadway to be exact has the best pho in town. It's not fast, like Than Bros Pho but it also lacks the little flies that accompany theirs. To each their own, I guess. Pho 900 adds a generous helping of fresh vegetables (broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, ...

Shout Outs
Shout out to JayFerris-
It’s right up there with my collection of Barbapapa books. I think it’s time to raid my mom’s attic!

I just stumbled upon your “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” contribution to a guide about childrens books. I just bought that book as a baby shower gift…I HAD to after repeating the title in a high pitched, “I can’t believe I forgot about this book” tone of voice. (Honestly, I wanted to keep it…but I think I still have a copy in my mom’s attic!)
-
umm, would that be plagiarism if i actually added that? haha

Lascivious. Best word EVAR!

It’s funny, because Alex’s method making me sign up for social networks usually involves a gun and a blindfold.
