Rising 243 feet above the South Platte Streambed, the Strontia Springs Dam forms a 2 mile long lake below it. The dam is located six miles upstream of the Waterton Canyon - a part of the South Platte River. Visitors to the dam can enjoy the scenery around on the dam foot, by hiking the six miles from Waterton Canyon and if they choose can continue along the Colorado Trail.
