The Bunker Hill Monument commemorates the famous Battle of Bunker Hill, when an ill-equipped group of American soldiers nearly defeated British forces in one of the American Revolution's pivotal moments. It consists of a 221-foot-tall obelisk with an exhibit area at the base. The monument lies along the Freedom Trail in Boston National Historical Park, near William J. Barry Playground.
