The Louisiana State Museum is New Orleans' most prominent heritage attraction, housing thousands of artifacts and works of art representative of the state's colorful history and cultural diversity. Visitors may view permanent collections in the areas of visual arts, jazz, costumes and textiles, and science and technology, as well as exhibits including photos of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The Museum operates five properties in the famous French Quarter: the Cabildo, Presbytere, 1850 House, Old U.S. Mint and Madame John's Legacy.
