Description

The Whaling Museum harkens back to Nantucket's Age of Sail, when manufacturing candles from sperm whale oil was one of the most lucrative industries in the world. Exhibits include a reconstructed 1840s-era candle factory, a rooftop observation deck overlooking the harbor, and an amazing 46-foot-tall sperm whale skeleton. Housed in an elegant waterfront brick building, the museum lies downtown, near Prospect Hill Cemetery.
