The Cabildo was the site of the signing of the Lousiana Purchase in 1803, the agreement that passed the state from the hands of the French into the United States. The historic building is located in the French Quarter, a block north of Jackson Square. Today, visitors can walk through these same halls once trod upon by five presidents, and get a real taste of the historic roots of the city.

Adults $6; Seniors, Active Military and Students $5; Children under 13 are free.

During the initial history of this place, when the Spanish still had a play in what was going on, this building was established by their municipal government as an official building. Following the Louisiana Purchase Transfer, this building has represented mostly history. Today, you can learn about New Orleans and lots of other interesting historical facts, including being able to take a guided tour through this building and its many exhibits.
