The Brooklyn Children's Museum, founded in 1899 was the first museum in the United States to be created specifically for children. Today the museum continues to dedicate itself to the expansion of children's mind through exciting exhibits like the 27,000 piece collection area, featuring a massive amount of natural history specimens as well as cultural artifacts for children to handle and learn about. It also boasts a 4,000 book library, an animal observation area, a music-making room and imagination play areas. The museum is located just north of Brower Park, a few blocks south of the Kingston-Browes subway entrance.
