Description

One of the country's oldest burial grounds, Copp's Hill has a tombstone dating back to 1625. Known particularly for its African American deceased, it is the final resting place for such notables as Prince Hall, a former slave who created the first school for black children, and preacher/witch-hunter Cotton Mather. The grounds lie on gentle grassy slopes in the heart of the city, with a lovely view of Boston Harbor to the north.
