Offering extensive exhibits on the complex traditions surrounding the city's most famous, yet mis-understood holiday, the museum educates visitors on the history, pageantry, tradition and artistry involved in the Crescent City's most beloved celebration. Exhibits include elaborate Mardi Gras Indian costumes, crowns and jewels worn by Carnival royalty, a re-creation of a Mardi Gras float, and a sampling of Mardi Gras music. The Presbytere and museum stand on Jackson Square, next to St Louis Cathedral and the Cabildo.
