Botanica, The Wichita Gardens covers 10 acres of park ground with an amazing collection of more than 3,600 species of flowering plants, shrubs and trees, with numerous outdoor sculptures interspersed throughout. Out of its 24 distinct garden areas, some of the most unique are the Jayne Milburn Aquatic Collection, the Xeriscape Demonstration Garden and the Garden on the Rocks, while more traditional areas include a Shakespearean garden, a rose garden and an exotic plants greenhouse. Children are fascinated by the Butterfly/Pansy House, where hundreds of colorful butterflies flutter around the enclosed garden, and the hands-on Sally Stone Sensory Garden. The center is near the heart of the city, with close-by attractions including the Wichita Art Museum, the Old Cowtown Museum and the Mid-America All-Indian Center.
