The Imperial Theatre is a legitimate Broadway venue which first opened in 1923 and has featured the works of Cole Porter, Stephen Sondheim, and George and Ira Gershwin amongst others. Today, the theater continues to satisfy the wishes of its founders, the Shubert Organization, by producing musical theater of the highest quality. The theater is located next door to the Marquis Theater and is across the street from the offices of the New York Times.
